There’s one very simple answer to this question and this is spam mail, yes the junk you’ll always find hiding in your emails somewhere. All it takes to get on the mailing lists used by these tiny bots is an email address. There is no need to sign up for anything. The spam just starts coming, out of nowhere, apparently without any plan, and without a reason.
I bet you’re now wondering how can they possibly find me I’m always so careful with my address, the truth is that all you have to do is leave it online on your website or something similar like a blog and BAM they’ve got you and once they found you they are like a dog with a bone, nothing and nobody will take it away from them and to add insult to injury they’ll sell your address on to other scammers.
Basically all these tiny little scammers look for is any email address that has been made so you can click onto it, so that it could be on a web page, a blog or even a forum. These little devils look for something called a ‘mailto’. This simply translates into whatever looks like something@something.co.uk.
Avoid Scammers
To avoid being found out the scammers like to use other people emails that you may already have on your contact list so they’ll catch you unaware, too build such a big network of spam zombies, spammers work with other spam creators so that they can send bulk emails out.
But luckily I have the answer to your worries, there are simple and easy ways of stopping these tiny zombies from overloading your email you can disguise your email address on the web. Maybe in the form of a JPG with your email typed into it so the scammers will only see the JPG but not what’s inside of it. Or encoding your address which simply translates: encoding means re-representing information in another format. So these little scammers can’t find you anymore, as you have taken away the mailto that they are looking for.
